Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi → Masai Mara – Into the Great Rift Valley
Begin your 7-day Kenya budget camping safari with an early morning pick-up from your Nairobi hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport by your friendly Pita Safaris driver-guide. Journey through the scenic Great Rift Valley, pausing at viewpoints to capture stunning panoramas before continuing via Narok, the colorful Maasai town.
Arrive at Lenchada Tourist Camp in time for lunch and a short rest before your first thrilling afternoon game drive in the world-famous Masai Mara National Reserve. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, zebras, giraffes, and the big cats — lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Return to camp for dinner and an evening by the campfire under a blanket of stars.
Travel Tip: Sunset game drives in the Mara offer magical golden-hour photo opportunities.
Distance: ~280 km | Drive Time: ~5–6 hours

Day 2: Masai Mara – Full-Day Game Drive & Big Five Safari
Wake up early for a full day of wildlife exploration across the Masai Mara’s endless plains. After breakfast, head out with a packed picnic lunch for an extended game drive in search of Africa’s Big Five — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino — alongside wildebeest, gazelles, and numerous bird species.
During the Great Wildebeest Migration (July–October), witness the breathtaking spectacle of millions of wildebeest and zebras crossing the Mara River in dramatic scenes of survival.
Return to camp at sunset for dinner and a relaxed evening at the campfire, sharing safari stories under the African sky.
Photography Tip: Early mornings and late afternoons offer the best wildlife light and activity.

Day 3: Masai Mara → Lake Nakuru – Flamingos & Rhino Sanctuary
After breakfast, leave Masai Mara behind and drive north toward Lake Nakuru National Park, one of Kenya’s most scenic Rift Valley lakes. Pass through farmlands and rolling hills before arriving in Nakuru for lunch.
In the afternoon, embark on a game drive through Lake Nakuru’s acacia forests and lakeshore grasslands. Spot endangered black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, zebras, and waterbucks — plus the park’s famous flamingos (seasonal).
Later, check in at Lanet Matfam Resort, a comfortable budget hotel offering en-suite rooms with hot showers and cozy beds.
Optional Extra: Visit a Maasai village before leaving the Mara to learn about traditional dances, crafts, and pastoral life.

Day 4: Lake Nakuru → Lake Naivasha – Boat Safari & Crescent Island Walk
After breakfast, continue to Lake Naivasha, a serene freshwater lake known for its birdlife and hippos.
Take an optional boat safari to spot hippos, pelicans, and fish eagles, followed by a guided walking safari on Crescent Island, where you can stroll safely among giraffes, zebras, and antelopes.
In the afternoon, relax at Chambai Safari Lodge, a charming budget lodge overlooking the lake. Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner and unwind as the sun sets over the Rift Valley.
Travel Tip: Morning hours at Crescent Island offer incredible photo ops and close encounters with gentle grazers.
Distance: ~90 km | Drive Time: ~2–3 hours

Day 5: Hell’s Gate National Park → Amboseli – Scenic Drive & Arrival
After an early breakfast, visit Hell’s Gate National Park, one of Kenya’s most unique reserves where visitors can walk or cycle among wildlife. Explore dramatic cliffs, gorges, and geothermal vents while spotting zebras, giraffes, and gazelles.
After your adventure, continue your scenic drive to Amboseli National Park, arriving in the evening. Check in at Nyati Safari Camp, located just outside the park, and enjoy dinner under the vast Amboseli sky.
Travel Tip: Carry comfortable shoes for cycling or walking inside Hell’s Gate’s gorges.
Distance: ~250 km | Drive Time: ~5–6 hours

Day 6: Amboseli – Elephants & Kilimanjaro Views
Spend a full day exploring Amboseli National Park, famed for its massive elephant herds and breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak.
Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives to spot lions, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, and hundreds of bird species. Between drives, relax at camp and soak in the views of the snow-capped mountain.
In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner and a cozy night by the campfire.
Photography Tip: Amboseli’s elephants framed by Kilimanjaro’s summit at sunset are a must-capture scene.

Day 7: Amboseli → Nairobi – Farewell Kenya
Enjoy a final sunrise game drive in Amboseli before breakfast — a last chance to spot elephants, lions, or gazelles against the glowing Kilimanjaro backdrop.
After breakfast, begin your return journey to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
Unique Experience: Amboseli offers some of Africa’s most iconic photo backdrops — the perfect finale to your Kenya safari.
