Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by our Pita Safaris representative and transferred to your comfortable hotel in Arusha. After check-in, spend the remainder of the day relaxing and preparing for your upcoming Mount Kilimanjaro adventure.

Your mountain guide will meet you for a detailed climb briefing, equipment check and final preparations, including an overview of the Marangu Route, altitude considerations, trekking conditions and what to expect during the climb.

Day 2: Arusha - Marangu Gate - Mandara Hut

After breakfast, depart Arusha and drive towards Marangu Gate, the starting point of your Kilimanjaro trek. After completing park registration and meeting your mountain crew, begin your ascent through the lush montane rainforest of Mount Kilimanjaro.

The trail winds beneath towering trees and dense vegetation, with opportunities to encounter colourful birdlife and forest monkeys. Trek at a comfortable pace through the forest before reaching Mandara Hut, where you will settle into your mountain accommodation and enjoy dinner in the peaceful surroundings.

After breakfast, continue your Marangu Route Kilimanjaro trek as the landscape gradually changes from rainforest to open moorland. The vegetation becomes lower and more distinctive, revealing expansive views towards Mawenzi Peak and Kibo, the two principal volcanic cones of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Walk at a steady, comfortable pace with your experienced mountain guide, allowing your body to adjust gradually to the increasing altitude. Arrive at Horombo Hut, your overnight base, with time to rest and enjoy the spectacular mountain scenery.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day (Horombo Hut)

After breakfast, spend an important acclimatisation day at Horombo Hut, climbing higher towards Mawenzi Ridge before returning to camp. This gradual exposure to higher elevation gives your body valuable time to adjust before the more demanding stages ahead.

Enjoy spectacular views of Mawenzi Peak, Kibo and the surrounding high-altitude landscape while your guide maintains a comfortable pace and monitors how you are adapting to the altitude.

After the acclimatisation hike, return to Horombo Hut for lunch, relaxation and preparation for the journey towards Kibo Hut.

Day 5: Horombo Hut - Kibo Hut

After breakfast, leave Horombo Hut and continue towards Kibo Hut, crossing the distinctive high-altitude Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks.

The vegetation becomes increasingly sparse as you enter the alpine desert environment. Ahead, the massive Kibo summit cone dominates the landscape, building anticipation for the final stage of your Mount Kilimanjaro climb.

Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon. After an early dinner, settle down for a few hours of rest before waking for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 6: Kibo Hut - Uhuru Peak - Horombo Hut

Wake shortly after midnight for the most demanding stage of your Mount Kilimanjaro trekking adventure. Begin the slow, steady ascent through the darkness towards the crater rim, following your guide's carefully paced rhythm.

Continue towards Gilman's Point and then along the crater rim towards Stella Point. Depending on your condition, weather and mountain conditions, continue towards Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres, the highest point in Africa.

Reach the summit around sunrise and take time to celebrate this remarkable achievement while enjoying spectacular views across the surrounding mountain landscape.

After the summit, begin the long descent towards Kibo Hut before continuing to Horombo Hut, where you will enjoy a well-earned rest and overnight stay.

As you descend, the vegetation becomes progressively greener and denser. Continue towards Marangu Gate, where you will complete the park exit formalities and say farewell to your mountain crew.

After the trek, transfer back to Arusha for your second comfortable hotel night. The remainder of the day is dedicated to relaxation and recovery following your summit attempt.
