Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO), you will be warmly welcomed by your Pita Safaris representative and transferred to your comfortable hotel in Nairobi. After check-in, spend the remainder of the day relaxing and preparing for your upcoming Mount Kenya Sirimon Route trekking adventure. Your mountain guide will meet you for a detailed trek briefing, equipment check and final preparations, including an overview of the Sirimon Route, altitude considerations, mountain conditions and what to expect during the four-day trek.

Day 2: Nairobi - Sirimon Gate - Old Moses Camp

After breakfast, depart Nairobi early in the morning and drive towards Sirimon Gate, the starting point of your Mount Kenya trek. After completing park registration and meeting your professional mountain crew, begin your ascent through the montane forest and bamboo zones of Mount Kenya National Park.

The trail gradually climbs through lush vegetation, where you may encounter birds, monkeys and other wildlife. As the forest begins to thin, the landscape opens towards the higher mountain zones. Continue steadily towards Old Moses Camp, your first mountain overnight stop, where you can relax, enjoy dinner and prepare for the next day's longer ascent.

Day 3: Old Moses Camp - Shipton's Camp

After breakfast, continue your Mount Kenya Sirimon Route trek as the landscape changes dramatically from forest into open moorland. The trail climbs through wide valleys surrounded by Mount Kenya's spectacular ridges and peaks, with distinctive giant lobelias and groundsels appearing throughout the high-altitude environment.

Continue towards Shipton's Camp, situated at approximately 4,200 metres beneath the dramatic mountain peaks. Your guide will maintain a steady pace and monitor your wellbeing as you gain altitude. After arriving at camp, settle into your mountain accommodation, enjoy a hot meal and rest in preparation for the early-morning summit attempt.

Day 4: Shipton's Camp - Point Lenana - Old Moses Camp

Wake before dawn for the most challenging and rewarding stage of your Mount Kenya trekking adventure. Begin the ascent in darkness towards Point Lenana at 4,985 metres, the highest trekking summit on Mount Kenya.

The pre-dawn trail crosses rocky high-altitude terrain as you gradually approach the summit area. With conditions permitting, reach Point Lenana around sunrise, when the first light spreads across the surrounding valleys, plains and mountain landscape. The jagged peaks of Mount Kenya provide a spectacular backdrop for photographs and a memorable summit experience.

After spending time at Point Lenana, begin the descent through the mountain's changing alpine landscape. Continue down towards Old Moses Camp, where you will enjoy a well-earned meal and rest after your summit day.

Day 5: Old Moses Camp - Sirimon Gate - Nairobi

After breakfast, begin your final descent from Old Moses Camp towards Sirimon Gate. The trail gradually returns through the moorland and bamboo zones into the greener forest environment encountered at the beginning of your trek.

At Sirimon Gate, complete the park exit formalities and say farewell to your mountain guide and support crew. Meet your private driver and begin the journey back to Nairobi.

Arrive in Nairobi later in the day and transfer to your comfortable hotel for a well-earned shower, rest and overnight stay following your Mount Kenya summit adventure.
