Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Gateway to Your Safari Adventure
Karibu Kenya! Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), your Pita Safaris driver-guide will greet you with a warm smile and a cheerful “Karibu Kenya!”—Swahili for “Welcome to Kenya.”
Transfer to Sarova Panafric Hotel, a midrange retreat with ensuite rooms, leafy gardens, and a refreshing pool. Depending on your arrival time, relax at the hotel or explore Nairobi highlights such as the Giraffe Centre or Karen Blixen Museum.
Travel Tip: Arriving early? Ask your guide about Nairobi’s hidden gems—like a specialty coffee roastery or even a mini safari in Nairobi National Park.
- Rest well—tomorrow the legendary Masai Mara calls.
Distance: ~18 km | Drive Time: ~30 minutes

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Rift Valley Vistas & First Game Drive
After breakfast, depart in your private 4x4 safari vehicle, driving through the dramatic Great Rift Valley with scenic photo stops. Arrive in the Masai Mara in time for lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge, perched on the Oloolaimutia Hills with sweeping savannah views.
In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive in Africa’s most iconic reserve. Spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and—if you’re lucky—the Big Cats: lions, cheetahs, and leopards.
Safari Moment: Watching the sun dip below the horizon as elephants and wildebeest graze in golden light—an unforgettable welcome to the Mara.
Distance: ~280 km | Drive Time: 5–6 hours

Day 3: Masai Mara – Full-Day Safari & Migration Wonders
Rise with the dawn for a sunrise game drive, the best time to see predators in action. After breakfast, spend the entire day exploring the Masai Mara with a picnic lunch in the bush.
Between July–October, marvel at the Great Wildebeest Migration—millions of wildebeest and zebras braving the Mara River in one of nature’s greatest spectacles. Year-round, the reserve offers thrilling encounters with the Big Five and endless wildlife drama.
Optional: Add a hot air balloon safari at sunrise or a Maasai village visit for cultural immersion.
Photography Tip: Golden morning and evening light create stunning wildlife portraits—ideal for capturing predators and elephants.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru – Flamingos & Rhino Encounters
Enjoy breakfast before driving north to Lake Nakuru National Park, with a picnic lunch en route. Arrive at Lake Nakuru Lodge, overlooking the lake’s shimmering waters.
In the afternoon, head out for a game drive. Nakuru is world-renowned for its flamingo flocks, but it’s also home to endangered black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, and elusive leopards.
Did You Know? Lake Nakuru is part of a UNESCO-listed Rift Valley lake system and a sanctuary for rare species.
Distance: ~320 km | Drive Time: 6–7 hours

Day 5: Lake Nakuru to Lake Naivasha – Boat & Walking Safari
Begin with a short morning game drive in Nakuru before continuing to Lake Naivasha, a tranquil freshwater lake surrounded by fever trees.
Check in at Muthu Lake Naivasha Country Club, a colonial-style lodge where giraffes and waterbucks often graze nearby. In the afternoon, take an optional boat safari to spot hippos, fish eagles, and kingfishers, followed by a guided walking safari on Crescent Island—where you can walk among giraffes, zebras, and gazelles in complete safety.
Safari Moment: Standing just meters from a wild giraffe on Crescent Island—an intimate encounter few destinations can offer.
Distance: ~90 km | Drive Time: ~2 hours

Day 6: Hell’s Gate National Park & Return to Nairobi
Conclude your adventure with a visit to Hell’s Gate National Park, famed for its towering cliffs, volcanic gorges, and geothermal springs. Choose to hike or cycle alongside zebras, gazelles, and antelopes—a rare chance to explore a park on foot.
After a farewell lunch in Naivasha, return to Nairobi for your evening departure. Optional extensions include an extra night in Nairobi or onward East Africa travel.
Safari Reflection: In six unforgettable days, you’ve tracked the Big Five in the Masai Mara, witnessed flamingos in Nakuru, cruised Naivasha, and explored Hell’s Gate—a complete Kenya safari experience.
