Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi – Warm Welcome to Kenya
Your Kenya safari adventure begins with your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, where a Pita Safaris representative will greet you with a warm smile and a personalized welcome. You’ll be transferred in comfort to the Sarova Panafric Hotel, a well-appointed midrange hotel just a short drive from the city center. Nestled amid leafy gardens, this city retreat offers the perfect space to unwind after a flight.
Check into your ensuite room and relax on your private balcony or take a refreshing swim in the outdoor pool. If time allows, enjoy dinner at the hotel’s Flame Tree Restaurant, known for its fusion of Kenyan and international cuisine. Your safari guide will provide a short briefing about the exciting days ahead, helping you settle in and prepare for the journey into Kenya’s wildlife-rich wilderness.

Day 2: Nairobi to Masai Mara – Scenic Drive & First Game Drive
After breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up for the scenic overland journey to Masai Mara National Reserve (~280 km | ~5-6 hours). Travel through the Great Rift Valley with brief stops for panoramic photos and refreshments along the way. Arrive at Mara Sopa Lodge in time for a warm lunch and check-in.
Set on the slopes of the Oloolaimutia Hills, Mara Sopa Lodge offers spacious ensuite cottages with private verandahs and sweeping views over the Masai Mara plains. After a short rest, head out on your first thrilling Masai Mara game drive. With your experienced local guide, begin your search for lions, elephants, giraffes, and maybe even a shy leopard in the acacia thickets.
As golden light bathes the savannah, return to the lodge for a hearty dinner and storytelling around the fireplace. Fall asleep to the wild sounds of Africa just outside your window.

Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara – Big Five Safari Adventure
Wake up with the sunrise and the promise of a full day of exploration in one of Africa’s richest wildlife ecosystems. After a hot breakfast, venture deep into Masai Mara for extensive morning and afternoon game drives, guided by your expert Pita Safaris driver who knows where to find the action.
This day is dedicated to seeking out the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—as well as cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, and gazelles. Depending on the season, you may witness part of the Great Wildebeest Migration, one of nature’s most awe-inspiring events.
Enjoy a bush picnic lunch under the shade of an acacia tree before continuing your search through riverine forests and open plains. Optional add-ons today include a sunrise hot air balloon safari or a visit to a traditional Maasai village to learn about local customs and ways of life.
Return to the lodge for a well-deserved dinner and a night under the African stars.

Day 4: Masai Mara to Lake Nakuru – Scenic Transfer & Afternoon Views
After an early breakfast, bid farewell to the Mara and begin the drive to Lake Nakuru National Park (~300 km | ~6 hours). Along the way, enjoy a scenic picnic lunch with views of the escarpment and rural landscapes.
Arrive at Lake Nakuru Lodge, a comfortable midrange safari lodge perched inside the national park. Settle into your ensuite room with a private veranda overlooking the park or the lake itself. Depending on arrival time, you may enjoy a short nature walk or optional birding activity around the lodge grounds.
Lake Nakuru is famous for its population of flamingos (seasonal), white and black rhinos, Rothschild's giraffes, and tree-climbing lions. The park’s alkaline lake and surrounding woodlands offer a peaceful setting to relax after your overland journey.
Enjoy dinner in the lodge’s main restaurant as the sun sets over the lake.

Rise early for a sunrise game drive through Lake Nakuru National Park. This morning, you’ll have a final opportunity to spot rhinos grazing on the open plains, buffalo wading near the lake, or elusive leopards in the euphorbia forests.
After a hearty breakfast back at the lodge, enjoy some time at leisure before checking out. Depart for Nairobi (~170 km | ~3-4 hours), arriving in the early afternoon for lunch en route or upon arrival. Your driver will drop you off at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in time for your evening departure flight.
If you are continuing your journey or catching a flight the following day, optional Pita Safaris will arrange another restful overnight stay at the Sarova Panafric Hotel in Nairobi.
