Day 1: Nairobi to Tsavo East National Park

After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive towards Tsavo East National Park, one of the oldest and largest parks in Kenya. The approximately 5-hour journey takes you through the picturesque Kenyan countryside, offering glimpses of rural life. Upon arrival at Tsavo East, check into your lodge or camp, where you can relax and have lunch. In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive. Tsavo East is known for its vast open plains and the famous red elephants, colored by the park’s red volcanic soil. As you traverse the park, keep an eye out for lions, buffaloes, zebras, and a variety of bird species. Return to your lodge as the sun sets, where a hearty dinner awaits. Spend the night surrounded by the sounds of the African bush.

Day 2: Full Day in Tsavo East National Park

Rise with the dawn for an early morning game drive, the best time to see wildlife in action. The cooler temperatures and soft morning light create ideal conditions for photography and animal activity. Explore the park’s diverse habitats, from open savannahs to lush riverine forests. Visit the iconic Aruba Dam, a crucial water source that attracts a plethora of wildlife. Your knowledgeable guide will provide fascinating insights into the park’s ecosystem and the behavior of its inhabitants. Return to the lodge for lunch, followed by some relaxation time. In the afternoon, head out for another game drive, perhaps exploring different areas of the park. As the day ends, return to your lodge for dinner, reflecting on the day’s sightings and experiences.

Day 3: Tsavo East to Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell to Tsavo East and journey to the neighboring Tsavo West National Park. The drive offers scenic views and the chance to spot wildlife along the way. Upon arrival, check into your new lodge or camp and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a game drive to explore Tsavo West’s dramatic landscapes. One of the highlights is a visit to Mzima Springs, a series of natural springs where you can observe hippos and crocodiles from an underwater viewing chamber. The park’s volcanic features, such as the Shetani Lava Flow, provide a stark contrast to the lush springs. As dusk falls, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the park’s unique ambiance.

Head towards the Chyulu Hills for breathtaking views and the chance to spot rhinos at the Rhino Sanctuary. Your guide will lead you through various habitats, sharing stories of the park’s history and conservation efforts. After a morning of exploration, return to the lodge for lunch and some downtime. In the afternoon, continue your safari with another game drive, visiting famous spots like the Roaring Rocks and the Poacher’s Lookout for panoramic views. As the day concludes, enjoy a sumptuous dinner at your lodge and a final night in the wild.
